Jujitsu
The Japanese martial art of Jujitsu is based around grappling and locks, but also includes some strikes, sweeps and ground fighting. This style of fighting can be traced back to the fighting styles of the ancient samurai.
Like Karate, Jujitsu is a general term and is not limited to one style of combat. Many styles and techniques have been incorporated into this style of fighting. It is widely considered a form of unarmed combat, and people proficient in Jujitsu can disarm an armed opponent.
The advantage of Jujitsu techniques is that fighters have every available form of combat available to them. They are not taught any certain form of fighting more than others. They are also allowed to use anything at their disposal to win a fight - even if it includes biting or hair pulling, tactics that some martial arts look down upon, although some Jujitsu teachers have varying opinions on this.
Jujitsu is more of a "hard" style while Judo is a less dangerous form of Jujitsu. Jujitsu is not intended to be used as a sport, but for everyday use. It is taught by many countries' militaries. It is one of the more efficient styles of combat and forms of self-defense.
Movements tend to focus on circularity and using an attacker's momentum against them. The techniques of Jujitsu tend to be taught by watching the techniques of an expert, and these techniques are learned as a basis to go forward from there.
Jujitsu also teaches the use of various weapons, including swords, staffs and knives. There are many Jujitsu schools across the nation that teach various forms of this art, from Brazilian Jujitsu to the original forms.
