Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu
Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu is an ancient Japanese art that focuses as much on the mental and spiritual aspect of martial arts as it does the physical aspect. It is also an extremely extensive martial art, featuring physical tools, weaponry and peace-related skills.
It is said that the style of Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu was partially inspired by the movements of a spider trapping something in its web. While tools can be used, unarmed combat is at the heart of Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu.
Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu began when many martial arts disciplines and styles converged, including various forms of Jujitsu, swordsmanship, horsemanship, strategy, archery and various things related to the art of war. Other skills not related to war, such as poetry and healing arts, were also valued.
Training today focuses on the character of the student and judges his progress by his humility, willingness to learn and dedication. This martial art is designed to train and test the spirit first and the physical techniques second.
There are three levels of Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu. Practitioners of this martial art alter it for public viewing and demonstrations, so the public can witness the style of the martial art without being able to steal any secrets or techniques of Daito Ryu Aiki Bujutsu.
Training should be done with respect, with full spirit and without ever losing the original sense of awe you felt as you discovered this discipline.
